Dwarf Purple Kalanchoe
Kalanchoe pumila
Kalanchoe pumila is a compact, spreading succulent subshrub with some of the most attractive foliage in the Kalanchoe family -- small, fleshy, oval leaves coated in a fine white powdery bloom that gives the plant a frosted silvery-gray appearance year-round. You get a late-winter to early-spring bonus of small pink flowers with purple veining, and the whole package has earned it a well-deserved RHS Award of Garden Merit.

Fun Facts
The specific epithet pumila means 'dwarf' or 'low-growing' in Latin, which is accurate -- the plant stays under 8 inches tall while spreading up to 18 inches wide, making it a neat trailing candidate for hanging baskets or rock gardens. The RHS awarded it its Award of Garden Merit in 1993.
Toxic to pets
Toxic to dogs, cats, and other animals. Like all Kalanchoe species, contains cardiac glycosides (bufadienolides) that can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and abnormal heart rate. Keep away from pets and children. Contact your vet or Poison Control (800-222-1222) if ingested.
